Property professionals bowled over by annual derby cricket match

Property professionals from the international port cities of Portsmouth and Southampton gathered for their hotly-contested annual cricket match.

The derby between Portsmouth Property Association (PPA) and Southampton Property Association (SPA) took place at Portsmouth Cricket Club, St Helens Field, Southsea.

With overs limited to 15 a side, due to imminent rain, PPA lifted the trophy with a second innings victory.

SPA previously won in 2019, with a hiatus due to the pandemic in 2020 and last year.

Deep South Media, which provides content marketing services to property companies nationally and regionally, co-sponsored the game with Portsmouth-based HW Conveyancing Searches.

Neil Hawkins, PPA Secretary, said: “It was good to see PPA bring home the trophy as the team successfully chased SPA’s spirited first innings of 89 for three in 15 overs. Three wickets down, PPA scored the required 90 in 13 overs, with a boundary four to secure victory.

There is always good-natured rivalry between the PO and SO postcodes in this fixture, with The Solent providing a stunning backdrop to the game. Members from both associations enjoyed drinks and a barbecue afterwards, providing the opportunity to network informally whilst commiserating or congratulating on various bowling, batting and fielding techniques.”
