Annual Charity Dinner 2024 Successful Fundraising Event
Our prestigious annual charity dinner was held last week at The Royal Maritime Club and was well attended by over 200 guests, and we were thrilled to raise funds for our Chair’s charities Moving on Project Portsmouth and Enable Ability. Main photo credit Deep South Media (Ron Wain)
Our PPA event sponsor was Destin 4 Chartered Surveyors, second year in a row and our speaker sponsor was Chinneck Shaw, their first time sponsoring an event, and all greatly appreciated and well received contributing a fantastic evening.
Our guests started with Welcome Drinks sponsored by HW Conveyancing Searches, who are long term supports of this event and the PPA, and we thank Andrew Prismall and his team for this.
Our wonderful guest speaker was Reverend Kate Bottley, as our Secretary Neil Hawkins said “Rev. Kate was fantastic. She captured the audience from minute one and maintained the exceptionally high standard of speakers in recent years”. She delighted us with the story of her early career and the catalyst to the television world, and was engaging, humorous and left some wisdom for further thoughts. She certainly left an inspiring impression.
We raised over £1,600 (total to be confirmed) on the night from the light-hearted game “Heads or Tails” and the Raffle, with prizes donated by our generous members. We had a fantastic three course meal, and speeches from the Chair, Vice Chair and the Lord Mayor of Portsmouth Councillor Tom Coles. We thank the Lord Mayor and Mayoress for joining us in our annual dinner, always a privilege to showcase and share our evening, and raise a Toast to The City of Portsmouth.
Our two charities were represented and guests of Wheeler & Lai Chartered Surveyors, who sponsored the Charities Table, and it was a way of supporting the charities, and giving our hardworking volunteers a well earned night off with some light entertainment. Thank you to Rebecca and Sau, and again thanks to Sau for her continued support on social media as part of the committee.
The Grand Auction was the Grand Finale of the evening and as ever delivered and concluded with great gusto and humour by Clive Emson MBE. We would like to recognise and thank him for his support of the event, especially as he came all the way from Kent!
Thank you to our Auction Lot donations, for which much was raised, and many bidders were engaged with, generating funds for our charities. We could not achieve this without the generosity in those that donated, and the guests’ generosities in bidding for and winning the Lots.
