Introducing Planets – one of three charities our chairman is supporting this year.
PLANETS Cancer Charity, based in Waterlooville, has been chosen as one of a trio of local charities that the PPA will support in its Centenary year.
PLANETS helps patients with pancreatic, liver, colorectal, oesophageal, stomach and neuroendocrine cancer by funding patient support groups, innovative treatments and research.
Layla Stephen set up the charity in 2011, following her own cancer diagnosis ten years ago. At this time, she felt there was little local provision of support for cancer patients and her surgeon encouraged and supported her quest.
In the last 8 years, the charity has raised £1,000,000 for specialist cancer services for those affected living in Hampshire, Wiltshire, IOW, The Channel Island and West Sussex.
PPA Chairman, Chris Green, chose to support this charity as a close friend and past PPA member, is currently receiving cancer care and support from its staff.
